Beginner's Guide to Gluten Allergy Symptoms

Anything which includes flour (white or wheat) as an ingredient is not allowed and these are the most common culprits when it comes to avoiding gluten.

So why should you avoid gluten? As problem foods go, it is up there with the best of them when it comes to harming your body. It can be alluded to pre-disease such as Crohn's disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Ulcerative Colitis among others.

Gluten is a protein which is in food grains (such as wheat, barley, oats, rye, and corn) that can produce allergic reactions in some people. Gluten is used as a filler and as a binder in pre-packaged foods.

Gluten intolerance is not a nice thing. If you suffer with gluten intolerance or sensitivity or Coeliac Disease then you will know the feeling of stomach cramping, pain, gas, constipation or diarrhea. People who have Coeliac Disease cannot eat food products containing gluten because it is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with the absorption of nutrients from food, and if a person suffering with Coeliac or gluten intolerance consumes gluten in any form, the immune system responds as if it were toxic by either destroying or damaging the villi which lines the small intestine. A human needs these villi to enable the body to absorb vital nutrients.

Gluten, while mostly a food substance, can sometimes be found in medicines, vitamins and lip balms.

There are things you can do to stop feeling unwell due to gluten intolerance like eliminating all grain and removing pasteurised dairy products too. Usually if you have gluten intolerance, you will need a multifaceted approach as you will probably find that it is not only gluten that gives you problems. Some people take a daily supplement of key proteins such as glycerine and arginine help to replenish and heal the gut over time.

The best thing I ever did was educate myself into a different way of thinking with food through researching the best things for me to eat. This was very difficult when I was first diagnosed as it wasn't very well known or documented then and everything I tried to make myself was really bland!
